The Bisbee Science Exploration and Research Center (BSERC) is back! We have re-energized the Bisbee Backyard Project (BBP) – and we want to invite all of you to a presentation on the progress we’ve made and future next steps. SALT – our Landscape Architect as well as Wilder Landscapes will be in town to present the designs for the BBP at approximately 85% Schematic Design. Light bites will be served during a question and answer time after the presentation. Mike will even have a cash bar open and available! Your presence and feedback is invaluable! Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum Free Online Program Unravelling the Secrets of Bisbee’s Famous Turquoise Occurrence with Mark Pecha, PhD. Saturday, December 13, 2025, 11:00 am – MST Bisbee is world famous for its incredible mineral heritage. While turquoise specimens are often overlooked by the average mineral collector, Bisbee turquoise is highly prized within the lapidary and gem/jewelry communities. This presentation explores the history of turquoise recovery in Bisbee, and the unique geological characteristics of the occurrence. Mark will also present current geochronologic/geochemical research that enables us to distinguish Bisbee turquoise from other deposits from around the globe.
