J.F. Thamm Gallery will present the poetry of Alfonsina Storni, as read by Tamela Turtle (voice, keyboard)) with Dylan Morgan (cello, keyboard). Storni (1892-1938), an Argentinian writer that challenged the conventions and patriarchy dominant in her time, has remained relatively obscure to larger circles of readers. The evening not only offers an introduction to the work of an important modernist poet, but also showcases the unique voice and musicianship of Tamela Turtle, in collaboration with cellist Dylan Morgan, combining elements of avant-garde classical music with improvisation to create haunting, challenging sound atmosphere. Starts at 7 and runs 56 minutes located at 40 Main St.
Nature Poetry/Writing open-mic at Object Hotel, 29 Main Street: Gathering Qi – A Zen Garden Arts Showcase, on September 9th, 6-8pm. Enjoy the spoken word in the tranquil environment I’ve created.
